Should you wish to change the settings on CaddyAid, you can easily do so from the Settings page.
When you are ready, select Play Course, and CaddyAid will load up the course you have selected, ready for play.
When you have finished, and wish to use your PDA for any other function, press Exit CaddyAid.
Settings
Your device has been set up to specific default settings. To change settings, touch the Settings tab on the CaddyAid menu, which will allow you to change various settings on the device. At the bottom of the screen, you will see various tabs. Select your choice and then make your personal changes.
GPS Settings
Your GPS settings within CaddyAid will be set to NO by default upon its arrival.
To enable the GPS, please use the following instructions. Select YES within the GPS Receiver Settings menu, then clarify the GPS is being accepted by testing the signal. This is done by selecting TEST. When successful, the appropriate readout will be displayed.
Your CaddyAid is now accepting the GPS signal, ready for usage on the golf course.
Distance Guide Settings
As with the GPS, when CaddyAid has been loaded from the programs menu, you can change the various settings on the device.
For example, you can choose to show the automatic distance guide, change the distances to which the fairway and green features are seen on the automatic readout, show lines to the respective key areas such as greens, bunkers etc. You may wish to change the line colour, or the measurement from yards to meters etc.
Show Distance Guide
Provides the automatic pop up display showing distances to the front and the back of all key predetermined points such as the green, bunkers, ditches, trees etc.
Show Fairway Features
Allows you to determine at which distance a fairway feature such as a fairway bunker is not shown on the screen. For example, if you select the setting to be 40 yards, any feature within the fairway that is 41 yards or more away will be shown. However when you are within 40 yards of that fairway feature, it will not be shown on the automated readout. The default setting is 20 yards.
Show Green Features
As in the case of the Fairway Features, distances within the specified yardage, will not appear. The default setting is 250 yards.
Show Lines
Shows lines on the screen from your standing position to the front of all the key points shown on the automatic readout.
Features Line Colour
Allows you to change the colour of the lines on the screen.
Display Distance
Change the distance to either Yards or Metres.
Position marker settings
CaddyAid lets you change the appearance of the markers on the screen, allowing you to select your personal preference.
For both the start and end position, you can choose from a number of different pointers and their colour. Select your preference (Start or End position) and then choose from the drop down menu the marker of choice, which can be seen in the adjacent box.
The colours of the lines can also be changed to suit personal needs should you wish.
When changes have been made, click OK.
Using CaddyAid
Now you are ready to use CaddyAid on the courses.
Select the course you wish to play from the drop down box. Now click Play Course, the golf course of choice will now load up. This normally takes a few seconds, and its speed of load up can be seen by the loading bar at the bottom of the screen. When loaded up, the first hole will appear on the screen from tee to green.
In order to magnify the picture simply use the zoom button from the toolbar, and if necessary, scroll up or down the image by using the scroll button at the bottom of the device You will also see a curser on the screen, this curser identifies your standing position on the hole.
To use the GPS
When the course has been loaded, it may take a few seconds for the GPS to find its required level of satellites, and until the correct amount are available, the GPS button will remain red. However, when it turns green, touch the green button to utilze the GPS.
GPS on the course
When on the hole, if you have selected the show guide tab, the distances to the front and the back of key areas such as greens, bunkers, ditches, ponds etc will be easily and automatically seen on the screen readout. For example B1L 138 / 148 indicates that Bunker 1 on the left of the green is 138 yards to the front, and 148 yards to the back. Please note, if there are more than one bunker, the bunker nearest the green will always have the lower numbers, compared to the fairway bunkers, with the numbers increasing towards the tee.
Should you wish to move the readout around the screen, you can touch it and it will move in 5 positions. You can always Hide Guide if you so wish, which will temporarily remove it from the screen. As you walk around the hole, you will note the distances change to the selected key areas within the automatic readout, as indeed does your identifiable position via the curser.
Manual readouts
You can also select distances to absolutely anywhere on the hole, simply by touching the End tab and then touching the screen. The GPS already knows where you are as can be seen by the start position curser, when the exact area you wish to go to has been selected, for example where the pin is on the back of the green, the distance from where you are standing to the position you have identified is calculated.
Should you wish to find the specific width of a fairway landing area, or width of a green, simply select Start, and then touch the screen at the designated start position, then select End, and select the designated end position, from which you will see the distance.
Loss of GPS signal whilst on the course
Sometimes, for a number of reasons, the GPS signal can be temporarily lost. Should that happen during play, a message will appear informing you that such a signal is not present. For all other products in the market place, that would mean that the device was useless, as it relies 100% on a GPS signal. Not so with CaddyAid.
In this eventuality, simply switch to the manual mode, whilst the signal is established once more, allowing for normal service and functionality to be resumed.
Using the manual mode, as was the case in the manual readout, utilise the image on the screen, identify via the photograph your standing position by touching the Start tab and then your position on the screen. The automatic readout will now tell you the distances to all key points, just as it did in the GPS mode.
When the signal has returned, the GPS button will turn green, touch the green button, and resume as normal.
Lay Up feature
Go to Settings, and then the Lay Up tab. Select your preferred distance and point of reference. Click OK.
When on the course, select the Lay Up tab, and the distance will be shown, to reach your preferred Lay Up distance to for example the middle of green.
Changing holes
To change holes, simply touch the hole number selector on the toolbar, and the newly selected hole will appear on the screen.
Charging the battery
Always make sure that the battery is fully charged on your PDA prior to play. CaddyAid have set the PDA’s to sustain a full round of golf with ease, however, should for any reason, you find the battery is not lasting one full round, please contact CaddyAid. NOTE -The battery needs to be charged to its maximum, upon receipt before usage.
